Bicarbonate of Soda and White Vinegar This handy trick is a sure fire way to unblocking your kitchen sink. Simply pour a cup fall of bicarbonate of soda followed by a cup of white vinegar. The two solutions will then fizz up in your waste pipes where the blockage is. After a few minutes pour boiling water down the plug hole to flush away the solution and any remnants of the blockage.

The Simple Plunger A cheap and cheerful way of clearing a blocked kitchen sink. You simply place the plunger over the plughole and press down to create a vacuum. Ensure that you cover the overflow outlet to prevent air pushing back up instead of down. This is a very effective, tried and tested way of unblocking a sink or toilet.

Take off the U-bend If the above methods did not clear the blockage then you may need to get into the U-bend and clear it yourself. Before you start ensure you have a bucket or saucepan under the sink and wear suitable gloves, especially after the different chemicals you have poured down the sink. Unscrew the U-bend until water begins to pour out. Wait until all the water has come out and continue to unscrew until you can remove the U-bend. Clear the blockage and replace the part. ensure you screw the nut up as tight as you can and that the part is fixed square and straight.
